Duties Conduct thorough physical examinations and health assessments for pediatric patients across various age groups, including infants, toddlers, school-aged children, and adolescents. Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute illnesses, chronic conditions, developmental concerns, and behavioral health issues in pediatric populations. Prescribe medications, administer injections, perform procedures such as suturing and dermal filler treatments when appropriate, and manage medication regimens following HIPAA regulations and DEA guidelines. Collaborate with healthcare professionals across specialties—such as gastroenterology, infectious disease care, critical care, and behavioral health—to develop comprehensive treatment plans. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation, patient records management, and clinical research activities. Provide patient education on wellness strategies, nutrition, immunizations, developmental milestones, and injury prevention tailored to children's needs. Participate in triage activities in urgent care or outpatient settings to prioritize patient needs efficiently while ensuring high-quality care delivery. Requirements Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics or Nurse Practitioner licensure with pediatric specialization. Proven experience working with children in diverse settings such as hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities, or neonatal units. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Athenahealth; telehealth experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of pediatric physiology, medical terminology, diagnostic evaluation techniques—including sonography—and clinical research methodologies. Skills in performing procedures such as IV insertion, venipuncture, catheterization (including urinary catheters), spinal taps (lumbar punctures), and tube feeding management. Experience managing complex cases involving acute pain management, ICU or Level I/II trauma center experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with patients' families while demonstrating empathy and cultural sensitivity. Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) is advantageous. Certification in basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support techniques required; additional certifications like ACLS or PALS are desirable.
