Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract A new opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse seeking full-time work in an educational setting. This position provides essential one-on-one care for a student with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a school environment, adapting to changing situations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary staff to support the health and safety of the student.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Illinois RN license, in good standing Previous experience as a school nurse or in pediatric settings preferred Proficiency in caring for students with advanced medical needs (G-tube, seizure disorders, VP shunt care, wheelchair assistance) Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills Ability to manage confidential student health information with professionalism and discretion Comfortable with non-verbal communication techniques Demonstrated reliability and dedication to student well-being
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct, individualized nursing care to a student throughout the school day Monitor, administer, and document G-tube feedings, medication, and other required treatments Respond promptly and effectively to seizures or other medical emergencies Support personal care, mobility, and health-related needs in the classroom and during transitions Liaise with teachers, therapists, and family to advocate for the student's health and educational goals Maintain accurate, up-to-date health records Follow all school, state, and district protocols for health and safety This opportunity offers the reward of making a significant impact in a student's life while working on a supportive team of professionals.
