Clinical Team Leader - Behaviorial Health Unit Responsible for the development, implementation and management of a patient focused approach to care that efficiently, effectively, and proactively manages clinical and quality outcomes. In addition to the duties, responsibilities and expectations outlined in the Staff Nurse job description, the Clinical Team Leader is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, organizing, directing and supervising activities under the direction of the Nurse Manager. The nurse practices in accordance with current established standards of care, the Nurse Practice Act, the Powers Health (PH) policies and procedures, and supports the mission and philosophy of PH by providing the highest quality care in the most cost efficient manner, provides for the well-being of the community, services the needs of all people and demonstrates the values: dignity, compassionate care, community quality and stewardship. Job Responsibilities With support and direction of the Nurse Manager, is responsible for maintaining standards of care for unit and assuring compliance with those standards through performance improvement activities. Assists and evaluates in developing/accomplishing unit goals and objectives Makes recommendations for the future needs of the unit through verbal and written communication regarding problems/concerns/associate and unit needs Assists in the development and revision of guidelines and procedure; performs QA studies and coordinates quality improvement activities to assure high quality and appropriate patient care is rendered in the department Monitors and evaluates the outcome of patient care activities and the performance of associates for effectiveness, quality and appropriateness. Collaborates with the Manger/Director to make appropriate changes Assists as needed for successful completion of regulatory accreditations and certifications Participates in hospital committees and performance improvement teams as requested Service Recovery as indicated; Keeps manager/director informed of any potential quality/risk issues With assistance and direction of nurse manager, facilitates an environment that promotes patient welfare and encourages growth and development of employee skills, knowledge and efficiency Develop education plans for individuals who are having work competency issues Responsible for annual competency development and completion Communicates tactfully and effectively with physicians, patients, families, nursing staff and other hospital departments and the public Skills Excellent patient assessment and critical thinking skills Self-direction, leadership, delegation and teaching ability Conveys a positive attitude and image internally and in the community Ability to analyze and creatively solve patient care issues in a proactive and positive manner Exhibits innovative ideas for nursing advancement Demonstrates a professional, positive, flexible and open minded manner with a willingness and desire to go the extra mile Education/Experience Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Current professional licensure by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau BSN preferred with previous supervisory/management experience desirable Certification in specialty area required or earns within one year of accepting position Current certifications required for specialist areas (ie.
NRP, ACLS
