1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Charge Nurse experience and night shift availability. Details 13-week travel assignment in a hospital Emergency Department Acute care setting, not a designated trauma center or stroke center, with an interventional Cath Lab available M-F 8a-5p for STEMIs 18-bed unit including 4 private trauma bays and 2 fast track rooms Approximately 67 patient visits per day Nurse to patient ratios of 4:1 or 5:1 depending on department area Common diagnoses include chest pain rule-out, abdominal/pelvic pain, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, and minor injuries RNs titrate drips and manage set-rate cardiac drips RNs are responsible for interpreting telemetry strips from unmanned central monitors RNs assist with phlebotomy alongside techs and medics Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts worked in a Charge Nurse capacity Varied shift times including 7a-7p, 11a-11p, and 3p-3a rotations Weekend rotation required every third weekend, with Friday/Saturday nights Holiday coverage may be required based on departmental need No on-call or standby requirements Routine floating within the ER, with an exception for the ER overflow unit Uses
MEDITECH EMR
system Requirements Active RN license (IN or Compact) required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Prior Triage and ER experience required Charge Nurse experience required for consideration Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and NIHSS (AHA) BSN not required Candidates who worked in a permanent capacity at the facility within the last 6 months will not be considered Additional Information Serve in a Charge Nurse capacity during scheduled shifts Work alongside a dedicated tech and medic support staff, with techs assisting with rooming, vitals, IV starts, blood draws, EKGs, and wound care Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7 for breathing treatments, ABGs, BiPAP, and ventilator management House Supervisor coverage available 24/7, with assigned Charge Nurses covering during slower hours or call-ins Department is equipped with weapon detection security screening at public entrances One room is designated for psychiatric patients, though it is not a true seclusion room Scrubs required in navy or royal blue Unit orientation consists of one 12-hour shift Hold patients are intermixed within the department and hall beds are not used
