Overview Join our dynamic outpatient surgery center as a Pre/Post Operative Registered Nurse, where your expertise will directly impact patient recovery and comfort. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional nursing care before and after surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, education, and smooth transitions through the surgical continuum. Your energy and dedication will help create a positive environment for patients undergoing a variety of outpatient surgeries, from ophthalmology to complex trauma cases. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and patient education on procedures and post-op care. Prepare patients for surgery by ensuring proper aseptic techniques, verifying consent forms, and establishing IV access when necessary. Monitor patients closely during the immediate postoperative period, managing pain, vital signs, and potential complications such as bleeding or adverse reactions. Assist with intraoperative procedures as needed, including suturing, catheter care, and maintaining sterile environments in the outpatient setting. Educate patients on post-surgical instructions, medication administration, wound care, and activity restrictions to promote optimal recovery. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including anesthesiology, surgical staff, and physical therapists—to ensure seamless patient care transitions from pre-op to post-op phases. Requirements Valid RN license with current state registration. Proven experience in outpatient surgery centers or ambulatory surgery environments is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, IV infusion. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as SIS for accurate documentation. Critical care experience or ICU background is advantageous for managing complex cases or emergencies. Ability to perform physical examinations and assess patient physiology effectively. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients clearly about their care plans. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus. Join us to make a difference in outpatient surgical care!
