Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Observation Unit to provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in a fast-paced observation setting. The RN will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments, coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams, educating patients and families, and supporting admission, transfer, and discharge processes. This position follows evidence-based nursing practices, hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines while emphasizing holistic care and a healing environment. Key Responsibilities Perform and document comprehensive nursing assessments. Evaluate patients based on age, developmental level, culture, presenting complaints, and risk factors. Collect and analyze objective and subjective patient information. Develop and prioritize patient problems and individualized care plans. Implement nursing interventions, treatments, and procedures within RN scope of practice. Administer medications and perform clinical procedures, including IV therapy and wound care. Monitor patient responses and recognize, respond to, and communicate changes in condition. Prioritize care for multiple patients according to acuity and clinical needs. Explain procedures, treatments, and care plans to patients and families. Provide patient and family education based on individual learning needs. Coordinate resources and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Delegate appropriate tasks and monitor the quality and completeness of delegated care. Facilitate timely patient discharge, including discharge teaching and coordination with Case Management. Participate in patient care planning, unit activities, and quality improvement initiatives. Support patient safety initiatives, including monitoring areas such as falls, pressure ulcers, CAUTIs, patient satisfaction, and documentation compliance. Promote a positive, respectful, and healing environment. Provide holistic, compassionate care while maintaining professional nursing standards. Required Qualifications prior experience required ADN or ASN from an accredited nursing program Active, unrestricted RN license in the applicable state Current BLS certification Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient needs in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, medical equipment, and healthcare technology Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams Knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and healthcare regulations Preferred Qualifications BSN Previous nursing experience is preferred but not required
Pay:
$48.00 - $52.00 per hour Expected hours: 36.0 per week Application Question(s): ADN or ASN from an accredited nursing program Active, unrestricted RN license in the applicable state Current BLS certification prior 2 years of relevant experience required Are you comfortable working 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM - 3 shifts/week × 12 hours? Are you able to work onsite in New Albany, IN 47150? Are you available for a 3-5 month contract assignment with the possibility of extension? Are you comfortable with the pay rate of $48 - $52/hour? Do you have experience using the Epic EMR system? Are you authorized to work in the United States for any employer? Are you applying as a Local candidate or a Traveler? If applying as a traveler, do you currently reside more than 75 miles from the facility? (Travel package eligibility applies.)
