Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Job Summary Provides nursing care to obstetric patients through labor, delivery, recovery and the immediate postpartum period, and to newborns following birth. Performs continuous maternal and fetal monitoring, recognizes complications and intervenes appropriately. Supports patients and families throughout the birth experience and provides newborn and postpartum education. Education & Experience Graduate of an accredited school of nursing: Required Labor and delivery or obstetric nursing experience: Required Licenses & Certifications Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice: Required Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification: Required Key Responsibilities Assess and monitor obstetric patients throughout labor, delivery and recovery. Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret fetal heart rate tracings. Administer medications, IV therapy and oxytocin or other agents per physician orders. Assist the provider during vaginal and operative deliveries and provide immediate newborn care. Recognize obstetric and neonatal emergencies and initiate appropriate intervention. Provide postpartum care, newborn assessment, feeding support and discharge education. #Workwolf
