Job Summary The Outpatient/PACU Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient procedures and same-day surgeries. Responsibilities include preoperative assessment and preparation, Phase I post-anesthesia recovery, patient monitoring, medication administration, patient education, discharge planning, and collaboration with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. Essential Responsibilities Perform preoperative assessments and prepare patients for procedures. Provide Phase I PACU care, including monitoring airway, vital signs, pain management, and recovery from anesthesia. Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition. Administer medications and treatments as ordered. Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery, and discharge instructions. Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with the healthcare team. Follow all hospital policies, infection prevention practices, HIPAA regulations, and patient safety standards. Qualifications Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred. Current Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) license. Previous outpatient surgery, ambulatory care, PACU, or related nursing experience preferred. Current BLS required. PALS required. ACLS required within six months of hire. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform routine patient care activities requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
