Description 1. Responds promptly to each incoming call. 2. Assess the symptoms of the caller. 3. Triages caller to the appropriate level of care. 4. Collects information such as patient details, medical history, billing and insurance information. 5. Serves as a clinical resource to other Healthcare Access Representatives. 6. Enters information into EHR and maintains accurate and complete records. 7. Communicates effectively with other departments to coordinate scheduling, referrals and other patient needs. 8. Informs patients and their caregivers of hospital procedures, policies and protocols when necessary. 9. Communicates effectively with healthcare providers to ensure caller's needs are met. 10. Assists in improving organizational performance and building good working relationships with areas and disciplines with the Medical Center systems. 11. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. 12. Meets departmental specific competencies. 13. Adheres to dress code. 14. Maintains strict patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity. 15. Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines. Requirements Experience in a clerical position preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans is beneficial. Strong administrative and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in data entry systems such as an EHR. Ability to multitask and maintain strong attention to detail. Compassionate and patient. An Associate's Degree in Nursing is required and a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred. Current Kentucky RN license is required. BLS training is required. Summary Functions as the first point of contact for patients to assist them in their medical care. The caller's symptoms will be assessed and triaged in order to assist the caller in obtaining the appropriate level of care and/or self-care advice.
