Rayburn Correctional Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to provide direct nursing care to the inmate population within a secure, all-male state correctional facility. In this role, the incumbent will deliver hands-on clinical care, assist during emergency code situations, and contribute to the development and implementation of individualized nursing care plans for assigned units. The position also supports physicians during patient examinations and is responsible for documenting comprehensive mental and physical health histories. This role offers a unique and dynamic work environment where no two days are the same. Job Duties:
Administer medications safely and accurately in accordance with established protocols and physician orders. Assess and evaluate inmate medical complaints, documenting findings and determining appropriate nursing interventions. Provide comprehensive nursing care to inmates admitted to the infirmary, including monitoring, treatment, and ongoing evaluation of patient needs.

JOB APPOINTMENT A
job appointment is a temporary job lasting up to four years; however, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment. This position may also be filled as a probational appointment if a non-temporary position becomes available in the recruitment process. If filled by probation, a permanent classified LA State employee, if selected, may be required to accept a probational appointment.
Compensation:
This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Registered Nurse 1 has an SER of $29.84 per hour Registered Nurse 2 has an SER of $31.93 per hour Registered Nurse 3 has an SER of $34.17 per hour This position also offers premium pay: A rate of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.
Career Progression Group :
REGISTERED NURSE 1, 2, OR 3
Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant. Salary depends on level of experience.
