Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments and prioritize care using triage principles. Recognize and respond rapidly to emergency situations, initiating appropriate nursing interventions. Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency treatments according to physician orders and hospital policies. Monitor patient conditions and accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record. Assist physicians during emergency procedures, trauma cases, resuscitations, and medical emergencies. Operate and monitor emergency medical equipment, including cardiac monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, and ventilators. Prepare patients for transfer, admission, discharge, or transport to higher levels of care when necessary. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, laboratory staff, radiology, EMS personnel, and other healthcare professionals. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental performance improvement activities. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and patient safety protocols.
