Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting school communities near Gretna, LA. This full-time position spans the current school year through late May, with assignments in one to two schools, based on district needs. Flexibility to work on either the East or West Bank is crucialthe district prioritizes adaptable professionals willing to serve where their expertise has the greatest impact. As the on-site nurse, youll provide direct care for students, including those with complex medical needs such as tracheostomies, g-tubes, and diabetes management. The role offers a chance to build strong relationships with students across various age groups, oversee health screenings, and collaborate closely with educational staff. Youll also train non-medical personnel, contribute to IEPs, and ensure meticulous record keeping and compliance with all health guidelines.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid RN license (BSN preferred; ASN accepted) Prior experience as a school nurse requiredplease highlight related settings Solid background managing trachs, g-tubes, diabetes, and conducting health screenings Skilled in training others, including non-medical staff Excellent communication, delegation, and interpersonal abilities Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Sheets Passion for working with children and supporting their success in an educational environment Commitment to flexibility in school placement Must complete district-specific drug screening and fingerprinting Youll enjoy a supportive environment and competitive, experience-based compensationranging from $28 to $40 an hourreflecting your years in the field.
