Job Responsibilities As a PACU Nurse, you'll play a crucial role in providing intensive observation and care to patients recovering from surgery and anesthesia. You will monitor patients closely, manage post-operative needs, and work closely with the surgical and anesthesia teams to promote safe and effective recovery.
Your key responsibilities include:
Providing intensive observation and post-operative care to patients following surgical procedures involving anesthesia or conscious sedation. Monitoring patients' vital signs, level of consciousness, pain, and overall condition during recovery. Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and anesthesia providers. Recognizing and responding promptly to changes in patients' conditions or potential post-operative complications. Providing patient comfort, pain management, and emotional support throughout the recovery process. Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare team members to ensure safe and effective patient care. Maintaining accurate and timely patient documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. Ensuring patients meet appropriate recovery criteria prior to discharge or transfer to the next level of care. Qualifications To join our team, you'll need the following qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program. A minimum of 1 year of PACU nursing experience. Hold a current Louisiana RN license . Current Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, and PALS certification.
