Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Triage Nurse for outpatient practice administrative only to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in providing efficient patient intake and assessment services, ensuring smooth operational flow within outpatient settings. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and experience working with diverse patient populations. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to patient care coordination while supporting clinical staff through precise administrative functions. Duties Conduct initial patient assessments via telephone or electronic communication, gathering pertinent medical history and presenting symptoms. Prioritize patient needs based on urgency and clinical guidelines, ensuring appropriate scheduling and follow-up. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient interactions accurately and efficiently. Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and ancillary services to facilitate timely appointments and referrals. Manage patient intake workflows, including verifying insurance information, updating medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide clear instructions and education to patients regarding appointment procedures, pre-visit preparations, and follow-up care. Support triage processes for various outpatient clinics, including primary care, specialty services like ophthalmology or geriatrics, and urgent care settings. Assist in managing documentation related to complex cases such as long-term care, hospice & palliative medicine, or trauma medicine when applicable. Qualifications Valid nursing license (RN or LPN). Experience in medical office settings, outpatient clinics, or emergency room triage. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation procedures. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with geriatric patients and healthcare professionals.
