Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Outpatient Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in outpatient surgical settings, demonstrating proficiency in aseptic techniques, patient assessment, and perioperative care. This role offers an opportunity to provide exceptional nursing care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal surgical outcomes. Candidates with a strong background in ophthalmology, ENT, or other outpatient specialties are encouraged to apply. The successful RN will be committed to delivering high-quality care aligned with hospital standards and patient-centered practices. Duties Prepare patients for outpatient surgical procedures by conducting thorough assessments, reviewing medical histories, and ensuring informed consent is obtained. Assist surgeons during procedures by maintaining sterile fields, managing surgical instruments, and supporting intraoperative needs. Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses throughout the perioperative period, responding promptly to any changes or complications. Administer medications including anesthesia adjuncts, sedation, or local anesthetics as directed by physicians while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Document all aspects of patient care accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on postoperative care instructions, including wound management, medication administration, and activity restrictions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesiologists, surgeons, and support staff to ensure seamless outpatient surgical experiences. Maintain sterile environment standards and ensure all surgical equipment is properly sterilized and functioning correctly before procedures. Requirements Valid RN license with current state registration; certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred. Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures, suturing techniques, IV infusion management, and medication administration protocols. Experience working with diverse patient populations Strong understanding of infection control practices and sterile processing standards within surgical environments. Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations requiring critical care skills such as airway management or acute pain control.
