1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a compact or MD RN license and at least one prior travel assignment. Details Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit of a hospital setting Patient population includes orthopedic patients, including ortho trauma and total joint replacement cases Patient ratio of 1:6 required Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:00) or Night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:00) schedules available Every other weekend (EOW) work required Floating required Uses Pyxis medication system Cerner charting experience preferred Requirements Active RN license (Compact or MD) required BLS certification required Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience within the last 7 years required At least 1 year of prior travel assignment experience required Experience with 1:6 patient ratio required Skilled in cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and emergency response Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum of 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms Experience in IV therapy/phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs required Experience with central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration preferred Feeding tube care and Heparin protocol experience preferred Previous charge nurse experience preferred Prior experience with pre/post neurosurgery and spinal cord injury patients preferred Additional Information Provide direct patient care for medical/surgical and telemetry patients, including orthopedic and neurological cases Scrubs are not provided; ceil blue scrub color required Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a lower pay rate Facility-specific compliance modules must be completed within one week of contract signing Lab work and drug screening must be completed within 48 hours of signing No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract Former MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a travel RN Manager interviews are not guaranteed for this position
