1 Description American Traveler is seeking a PACU RN with an active MD or Compact license, requiring at least 2 years of PACU experience for a rotating day shift assignment. Details Work in a 16-bed Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Patient ratio of 1:4 Patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics Surgical diagnoses include orthopedic, neurology, cardiothoracic, vascular, general, thoracic, urology, and gynecology cases Epic EMR experience preferred Rotating day shift, 3x12 hours, 07:30-20:00, with every other weekend required (2 weekends per schedule cycle) Floating required within the PACU specialty, rotating with pre-op for this contract, and may include floating to a sister facility as needed On-call is not currently implemented for this unit, though 30-day notice will be given if it is introduced Holiday coverage required as scheduled Requirements Active RN license (Maryland or Compact) required Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required (AHA only) CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version only accepted) Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required First-time travelers considered only with 3-5 years of PACU experience or 2 years of ICU experience Previous charge nurse experience preferred Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred Additional Information Provide perianesthesia care to surgical patients across a wide range of specialties including orthopedics, neurology, cardiothoracic, vascular, general, thoracic, urology, and gynecology Navy blue scrubs required Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility unless approved for local rate Maximum of 7 RTO days may be requested; if more than 4 consecutive days are taken, an additional week must be added to the end of the contract One major holiday off during the winter season may be allowed depending on scheduling needs Contract extensions limited to one initial contract plus one extension, after which a 6-month break from the facility/unit is required Former staff members must be separated from the health system for 12 months before returning as a traveler Returning travelers must have been away from the system for at least 6 months since their last assignment Travelers are expected to float first and without restriction within their scope of practice
