Position Overview St. Mary's Ryken seeks a compassionate, knowledgeable, and collaborative School Nurse to support the health, safety, and well-being of our students and employees. Guided by the mission and values of St. Mary's Ryken and the Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools, the School Nurse provides high-quality, student-centered care and helps foster a safe, healthy, and inclusive school community. Key Responsibilities Clinical Care and Student Support Provide timely, compassionate nursing care to students and employees, including assessment, treatment, emergency response, and appropriate follow-up. Administer medications and oversee healthcare procedures in accordance with physician orders, parental authorization, school policies, and Maryland nursing regulations. Develop and maintain individualized healthcare plans and emergency action plans for students with medical needs. Conduct or coordinate required vision and hearing screenings and communicate follow-up recommendations to families. Determine when and how healthcare-related tasks may be delegated in accordance with Maryland law and professional nursing standards. Health Records and Regulatory Compliance Maintain accurate and confidential student health records. Prepare and submit required health-related reports in a timely manner. Monitor student immunization records and ensure compliance with applicable state requirements. Remain current on federal, state, and local requirements related to the care of minors and adults. Protect the privacy and confidentiality of health and educational records in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, and school policies. Emergency Preparedness and School Safety Respond calmly and effectively to illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies occurring during the school day. Participate actively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school safety and emergency-response plans. Help ensure that emergency medications, supplies, and student medical information are accessible and current. Provide guidance to school-based teams and committees, including the Concussion Management Team. Disease Prevention and Community Wellness Identify, manage, and communicate concerns related to communicable illnesses. Implement appropriate infection-prevention and control measures. Educate students and employees about current health concerns, disease prevention, and healthy practices. Provide health education and wellness resources in individual and group settings. Assess the school environment for potential health and safety concerns and recommend appropriate preventive measures. Communication and Collaboration Collaborate with families, school personnel, and community healthcare providers to coordinate care and support student wellness. Serve as a health consultant to faculty, counselors, coaches, food service personnel, physical education teachers, and other school professionals. Communicate appropriately with parents and guardians regarding student illnesses, injuries, health concerns, and recommended follow-up care. Promote a supportive and inclusive approach to student health and well-being throughout the school community. Health Office Operations Maintain the security, cleanliness, and organization of the school health office, medications, and medical supplies. Inspect and maintain clinical equipment to ensure it is safe and operational. Monitor medical supplies and consumable materials and assist with annual budgeting and purchasing. Perform other duties related to student health, safety, and wellness as assigned. Qualifications Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Maryland. Current CPR and AED certification. Strong clinical judgment and the ability to respond calmly and effectively to routine health concerns and medical emergencies. Excellent communication, organization, collaboration, and recordkeeping skills. Ability to work effectively and compassionately with adolescents, families, employees, and healthcare professionals. Successful completion of all required employment screenings and clearances, including: Maryland criminal history records check FBI criminal background check Maryland child sexual abuse and sexual misconduct clearance Any additional background checks or training required by St. Mary's Ryken Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Previous experience in school nursing, pediatrics, adolescent health, emergency care, or community health. Familiarity with Maryland school health requirements, electronic health records, and individualized student healthcare planning.

Salary:

$60,000 commensurate with experience
