9682853-04005 Job Description Take the opportunity to make a lasting difference in a students life as the dedicated 1:1 Registered Nurse working with a high schooler living with Angelmans Syndrome, based near Portland and Biddeford, ME. This rewarding contract position runs ASAP through June 11, 2027, with flexible options for per diem or part-time scheduling. Help this student thrive in both academic and community settings as you provide compassionate, attentive support.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Accompanying the student daily, including bus transport to and from their transition center Delivering full assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), especially eating and swallowing safety Monitoring and intervening for choking hazards or oral stimulation, with heightened vigilance during mealtimes Assisting with transfers, toileting, and hygiene, which may require teamwork for safe lifting Observing for, and responding to, myoclonic tremors and seizure activity, following established health plans Administering emergency medication as needed Collaborating with school therapists to support occupational and physical therapy routines Maintaining a comfortable environment as outlined in the health plan and IEP Accompanying the student on field trips Documenting notes and communicating effectively with overseeing nursing and school staff Ideal qualifications and experience: Active RN license in Maine Prior experience as a school nurse, particularly in 1:1 pediatric or special needs settings Skilled in seizure monitoring, safe lifting/transfer, and feeding precautions Strong observational skills and clear judgment under pressure Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and therapists Compassion, patience, and dedication to student-centered care Compensation for this contract role is $39-$43 per hour on a W2 hourly basis.
