r43945-04348 Job Description 1:1 Pediatric School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) | Somerville, Maine Step into a rewarding school-based nursing role supporting a student with Dravet syndrome and Autism for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time opportunity is ideal for a compassionate Registered Nurse with pediatric, special education, seizure management, and 1:1 nursing experience. The RN will provide dedicated health support throughout the school day, ride with the student to and from school, monitor for seizure activity, and collaborate closely with the Ed Tech team and school staff to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maine required
• Pediatric or school nursing experience preferred
• Experience providing 1:1 nursing care highly valued
• Experience with seizure disorders, autism, or students with complex medical needs preferred
• Strong understanding of seizure response and emergency medical protocols
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Compassionate, adaptable, organized, and comfortable working in a school-based setting
• Ability to work closely with Ed Tech staff, educators, and school personnel

Schedule:

• Full-time position, approximately 37.5-40 hours per week
• ASAP through June 10, 2027
• Approximately 7.5 hours per day
• School hours: 8:00 AM-2:30 PM
• Due to bus transportation, the anticipated schedule is approximately 7:30 AM-3:00 PM
• Schedule may be flexible based on transportation needs

Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 nursing support for a student with Dravet syndrome and Autism
• Ride to and from school daily with the student
• Monitor the student for seizure activity throughout the school day
• Follow the student's established medical plan and seizure response protocols when necessary
• Support and educate school staff regarding seizure response procedures
• Advise staff on outdoor activities and temperature considerations due to temperature-triggered seizures
• Complete nursing observations and monitor the student's health throughout the school day
• Collaborate closely with the student's dedicated 1:1 Ed Tech, who provides support with activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Assist with behavioral data collection when able; this is preferred but not required
• Maintain appropriate nursing documentation and health records
• Communicate effectively with school staff and the student's support team to promote safety and continuity of care

Additional Information:

• The student is currently not attending school and is expected to return in late October
• Until the student returns, the RN will perform general nursing duties at the school site
• There are currently no other nurses on campus, so the RN will serve as the School Nurse for the campus during this period
• No seizures have occurred at school to date
• Strong collaboration with the Ed Tech team is required
