Registered Nurse (RN) - OB Labor & Delivery Unit Bronson Methodist Hospital - Full Time Overview Bronson Methodist Hospital is seeking a compassionate, skilled Registered Nurse to join our 23-bed Labor & Delivery unit. This team cares for both low-risk and high-risk pregnant individuals throughout labor, childbirth, and the immediate postpartum period. The unit includes triage, operating rooms, and PACU recovery spaces. RNs in this department deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care while collaborating with physicians, midwives, anesthesiology, and interdisciplinary partners to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes. What You'll Do Provide nursing care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans. Administer medications and treatments according to approved nursing standards. Monitor maternal and fetal status, including electronic fetal monitoring. Assist with obstetric procedures and support surgical teams as needed. Educate patients and families on care, recovery, and discharge planning. Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately. Delegate tasks appropriately and coordinate care with the broader team. Evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans to achieve expected outcomes. Scrub RN Responsibilities (as assigned) Review procedure cards and ensure required supplies/equipment are available. Anticipate physician needs during operative procedures. Monitor patient condition for changes during surgery. Update preference cards and report equipment issues. Serve as a resource for circulators unfamiliar with specialty equipment. Participate in after-hours call rotation. Qualifications Associate's degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred; BSN required within 8 years of hire. Licensed RN in good standing with the State of Michigan. BLS required by completion of core orientation. Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification (PQF or NCC) required within 6 months of completing intermediate fetal monitoring. Additional certifications may be required based on unit needs (e.g., ACLS, PALS). Skills & Abilities Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical decision-making skills. Ability to read and interpret clinical data and electronic systems. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, electronic). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with patient movement. Ability to maintain focus during repetitive or detailed work. Professional Practice Expectations Deliver culturally sensitive, ethical, and compassionate care. Completion of "Swing Beds" CBL annually; may be assigned to cover shifts based on patient acuity and staffing needs. Virtual RN Role (if assigned): Provide remote patient care support, education, discharge planning, and documentation using digital platforms and EHR tools.
