Monday-Thursday schedule with Fridays off — no nights, weekends, or holidays High-acuity specialty cases in a focused, efficient outpatient setting Close-knit team with a strong culture of quality and patient experience Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Pre/Post-Op Nurse to join our team on a full-time basis, working Monday through Thursday (32 hours/week) with Fridays off. In this role, you will care for patients before and after their surgical procedures, ensuring they are properly prepared, monitored, and safely discharged. You'll also oversee the pre-admission testing (PAT) process in collaboration with a medical assistant, serving as a critical link between the patient, their family, and the surgical team throughout the perioperative journey. Key Responsibilities Oversee the pre-admission testing (PAT) process in collaboration with a medical assistant, ensuring patients are appropriately screened and cleared for surgery Conduct pre-operative patient assessments, including vital signs, health history review, and verification of NPO status and consents Start IVs and administer pre-operative medications per physician orders Provide pre-operative education on what to expect during and after the procedure Receive patients from the OR and provide post-anesthesia recovery care, monitoring vital signs, pain levels, and for signs of complications Manage airway and oxygenation support during recovery as needed Assess patients for discharge readiness per facility and physician criteria Provide discharge instructions and education to patients and caregivers, including medication management, wound care, and activity restrictions Conduct post-operative follow-up calls to assess recovery and address patient concerns Document all patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and patient safety standards Qualifications Active Michigan RN license; BLS and ACLS certification required Minimum 1-2 years of experience in pre/post-op, PACU, or related perioperative nursing; ASC experience strongly preferred Experience overseeing or coordinating pre-admission testing processes a plus Strong assessment skills, particularly in pain management and recovery from anesthesia Proficiency in IV insertion and peripheral line management Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and the surgical team Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced outpatient setting Knowledge of infection control practices and perioperative safety standards Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience. Full-time Monday-Thursday schedule (32 hours/week) with Fridays off and no on-call requirements. Benefits eligibility (medical, dental, vision, PTO) available per company policy.
