This position will be filled as either a Nutrition Coordinator/ Public Health Nurse/Registered Nurse. Watonwan County has one vacancy and this will be filled at the appropriate level depending upon the applicant's qualifications. Come join the Public Health team at Watonwan County Human Services! This position is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Supplemental Nutrition Program for WIC in Watonwan County. The WIC Coordinator manages the local WIC program, oversees all program functions, assesses nutritional needs and provides nutrition education to participants, offers breastfeeding education, ensures compliance with state policies and federal regulations, trains staff and oversees their work, assures quality services and interacts directly with state and regional WIC staff. Also provides back-up to other Public Health programs.Excellent benefits include:

Examples of Duties Minnesota Merit System Examples of Duties Determines initial and ongoing eligibility for assigned health program area according to federal, state, and local policies. Provides high-risk counseling and follow-up to program participants with nutritional needs. Gathers health statistics required according to program criteria. Assesses diet and medical history for conditions that may affect nutritional status. Provides health and nutrition education and counseling to program participants. Refers program participants to appropriate health and social service resources. Promotes program through newsletter and outreach activities to insure all potentially eligible participants are aware of the program. Composes/revises annual Nutrition Education Plan. Develops and implements evaluation procedure for monitoring the effectiveness of the nutrition education program. Attends nutrition education conferences. Provides in-service training to staff. Develops community support and participation and commitment in Nutrition Education Programs. Assists with clinic set-up and clean up. Performs related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications MN Merit System Minimum Qualifications Nutrition Coordinator Bachelor's degree with a major in food and nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics or a closely related field: or current licensure as a registered nurse. MN Merit System Minimum Qualifications Public Health Nurse Certification as a Public Health Nurse in Minnesota and current licensure as a registered nurse in Minnesota. MN Merit System Minimum Qualifications Registered Nurse Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Minnesota. Winona County Preferred Qualifications Candidates who apply must have current licensure as a Registered Nurse in MN OR a Public Health Nurse Certification, or the ability to become certified as a PHN in MN and current licensure as an RN in MN, OR Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a closely related field,OR Registered Dietitian, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist :
registered with the Commission of Dietetic Registration, OR Associate's Degree in Dietetics Technology (Must be registered at time of hire if you are a graduate of a Dietetic Technician program and maintain ongoing registration as Dietetic Technician by the Commission on Dietetic Registration).
