Job Description

Mercy is seeking a PRN/As Needed MedSurg nurse to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to adult patients on our Medical-Surgical unit. In this flexible role, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care; administer medications; monitor vital signs; and support recovery from acute and chronic conditions. You'll collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care and educate patients and families. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients, including assessments and vital sign monitoring Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately Document care and patient responses in the EMR in a timely, accurate manner Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond to emergencies appropriately Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards Support unit workflow, including admissions, discharges, and transfers Participate in ongoing education and competency development Required Skills Medical-surgical nursing Patient assessment Care planning Medication administration IV therapy Electronic medical records (EMR) Wound care Telemetry monitoring Patient and family education Infection control
