Job Description
HCA Healthcare, a leading provider of healthcare services, is seeking an Emergency Department RN to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this fast-paced FSED setting, you'll deliver high-quality, patient-centered care, perform rapid assessments, administer medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities Perform rapid assessment and triage of patients presenting to the free-standing emergency department Deliver high-quality, evidence-based emergency nursing care to patients of all ages and acuity levels Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and protocols Monitor, interpret, and respond to changes in patient condition, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and pain levels Coordinate and assist with diagnostic tests and procedures, including labs, imaging, and bedside interventions Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans Stabilize and prepare patients for transfer, admission, or discharge, ensuring continuity of care with affiliated facilities Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and follow-up care, promoting understanding and adherence Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record and comply with all regulatory and organizational standards Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and emergency department policies, including handling of high-risk medications and isolation precautions Participate in emergency response situations such as codes, traumas, and rapid response events within the FSED scope Engage in ongoing professional development, mandatory competencies, and emergency nursing education offered by HCA Healthcare Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and performance metrics focused on patient outcomes, throughput, and experience Support a culture of compassion, teamwork, and respect, serving as an advocate for patients, families, and colleagues Required Skills Emergency nursing assessment and triage IV insertion and vascular access management Medication administration and high-risk medication safety Cardiac monitoring and basic rhythm interpretation Management of respiratory distress and use of oxygen delivery devices Wound care and basic emergency procedures assistance Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Knowledge of emergency department protocols and clinical pathways Patient and family education and communication De-escalation and crisis intervention skills Time management and prioritization in high-acuity settings Collaboration within an interdisciplinary healthcare team Infection prevention and control practices Understanding of regulatory and safety standards (e.g., EMTALA awareness, HIPAA)
