Job Description

Make a Difference Where It Matters Most At Peace of Mind Medicine, we care for some of the most medically complex and underserved patients in our region. We serve children with special needs, their families, and adults living with chronic and complex illnesses. Many of the patients who come to us have already exhausted traditional options and are searching for someone willing to listen, help, and walk alongside them when few others can. For many of our patients, Peace of Mind Medicine is not their first stop. We are often the place they turn when other options have failed and they still need someone willing to help. About This Opportunity Our challenge is not finding patients who need our help. The challenge is having enough capacity to serve them. Today, we are often unable to accept new patients because our small team is fully committed to caring for the patients already under our care. Families regularly contact us seeking help, but limited staffing prevents us from taking on the number of patients who need our services. We are looking for a nurse who can become a trusted partner and right hand to our physician. This role will help manage patient care, coordination, communication, follow-up, and day-to-day clinical support, allowing the physician to spend more time seeing patients and expanding access to care. Every task you take on will directly help us serve more children, adults, and families who currently have nowhere else to turn. What We're Looking For We are seeking a Registered Nurse who is clinically capable, dependable, and genuinely passionate about caring for patients with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate is someone who: Has a heart for serving patients who are often overlooked or misunderstood. Finds purpose in caring for individuals living with chronic and complex illnesses. Understands the tremendous impact that compassionate care can have on both patients and families. Is comfortable working in a small, close-knit team environment. Is highly organized and willing to take ownership of important patient support activities. Is comfortable performing clinical procedures, including IV starts, venipuncture, and routine blood draws. Sees difficult cases as people rather than diagnoses. While not required, we especially value candidates who have personally supported a family member or close friend through chronic illness, disability, special needs, or complex medical challenges. We have found that individuals with this lived experience often bring a level of empathy and understanding that is especially meaningful to our patients and their families. Responsibilities Provide patient assessments and nursing care. Perform IV starts, blood draws, specimen collection, and other nursing procedures as appropriate. Assist with patient communication and follow-up. Educate and support patients and caregivers. Coordinate care and referrals as needed. Maintain accurate clinical documentation. Collaborate closely with the physician and other team members. Help manage ongoing patient needs and treatment plans. Support day-to-day operations that improve patient access to care. Serve as a key member of a small team dedicated to helping medically complex patients and families. Qualifications Required Current Missouri Registered Nurse (RN) license. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care. Preferred Experience with special needs children or medically complex patients. Experience in family medicine, community health, case management, home health, chronic disease management, or similar settings. Personal experience supporting a loved one through chronic illness, disability, or special medical needs. Schedule Part-time position. Flexible scheduling available. Opportunity to work around other professional or personal commitments. Compensation $40.00 to $50.00 per hour based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit. Flexible work environment. Opportunity to have a direct impact on patients and families. Meaningful work with a mission-driven organization. Why Join Peace of Mind Medicine? Our patients are the reason we come to work every day. Many have spent years searching for answers and support before finding us. They are often dealing with challenges that other providers have been unable or unwilling to address. The physician currently carries much of the clinical and support workload herself, limiting the number of new patients we can accept. The right nurse will help change that reality by becoming an integral member of the team and helping create the capacity needed to serve more families. This is more than a nursing position. It is an opportunity to help some of the most vulnerable patients in our community receive the care, attention, and compassion they deserve. If you are the kind of nurse who finds joy in helping people through difficult circumstances and believes every patient deserves to be heard, respected, and cared for, we would love to hear from you. To Apply Please submit your resume and a brief note describing: Why this mission resonates with you. Your experience caring for patients with chronic, complex, or special needs conditions. What attracts you to a small practice environment where your work will make a direct and visible difference every day.
