Job Summary:
Maintains objectives and guidelines for all Training Programs and In-services for each Department under guidance of Corporate Training Director; provides Orientation for all new Employees and ongoing training for all current Employees; plans and schedules In-services with speakers from inside and outside Company; maintains master Training Planner/Schedule for all Departments; ensures all required In-services are conducted annually; maintains reports and Training Records of all training conducted; must communicate courteously and respectfully with Employees, Residents and others Qualifications /
Requirements:
RN License in good standing in Mississippi; must possess or obtain TB Certification within first year of accepting position; prefer at least two years Nursing experience in Long-Term Care; must have excellent oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills in Microsoft Office; must pass drug screens and have a satisfactory
Criminal History Background Check Duties and Responsibilities:
Consults with Administrator, DON and Corporate Training Coordinator to assess Facility's training needs Follows Corporate Training Program Outline to meet all Training needs; provides reports as requested by Corporate Training Coordinator Supervises Restorative Nursing Program for Restorative Nurse Aides ensuring accurate, safe and timely care Orients, trains and supervises Restorative Nurse Aides, ensuring that Resident's Care Plan is followed in the delivery and documentation of Specialized Restorative Nursing Care Works closely with Therapists to ensure follow-through on specific recommendations when Resident is discharged from a specific Therapy Program into a specialized Restorative Program Completes Monthly Progress Note to ensure Restorative Plan of Care is followed and that resident is participating in the Restorative Program Conducts Weekly Restorative Meeting with Interdisciplinary Team to discuss Resident's progress or lack of progress to ensure documentation is accurate and Plan of Care is changed as necessary Attends Care Plan conferences and Restorative Discharge Planning Ensures all Nurse Aide Trainees pass the Nurse Aide Certification exam within 4 months of employment as required by MS Department of Health, Division of Licensure / Certification Assists Nurse Aide Trainees with completing the Application for Nurse Aide Certification Exam Provides reviews of Clinical Skills and Nurse Aide Curriculum with Nurse Aide Trainees to assist them with preparation for Nurse Aide Certification Exam Requires Nurse Aide Trainees to submit pass/fail document for the Nurse Aide Certification Exam next workday after Exam Coordinates with Nursing Schools for scheduling Clinical Training of Nursing Students and Nurse Aide Trainees who receive Clinical Training at Bedford Facilities Develops relationships with Nursing School Representatives and members of the medical community Verifies Nursing Licenses and Nurse Aide Certification Reviews all Employee Personnel and Medical Files to ensure mandatory documents are present, i.e., TB Skin Test; Hepatitis Accept/Decline Documentation; Physical Exams; Criminal Record; Abuse Registry; OIG Screen; Nurse's License; CNA Certification; etc. Conducts Orientation for all new Employees, including all OSHA-required Programs, Fire Drills, Emergency Evacuation Plans, Lockout-Tagout, Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens, Infection Control and Prevention Program etc. Completes Nurse Aide Skills Check for all newly-hired Nurse Aides and Nurse Aide Trainees before they are released to provide independent Resident Care; completes Annual Skills Check Review for all CNA's Follows Nurses' Orientation and Annual Skills Check for Nursing Staff Complies with the Agency Orientation List for Agency Nurses and CNA's prior to their working in Facility Observes and evaluates skills, performance, demeanor, and Resident Care provided by Nurse Aides and Nurses; provides 1 to 1, or 1 to 3, etc., impromptu mini in-services as indicated and needed Ensures Nurse Aides receive the mandatory 12 hours of annual In-Services as required by MS Department of Health; provides Training as outlined in Bedford's Annual Education Plan As assigned by the Director of Nursing, conducts Employees' pre-employment and annual Physical Exams, TB Skin Tests and Hepatitis-B Accept / Decline documentation Regularly informs Nurse Aides of MS Department of Health requirement regarding change of address for Certification Renewal, Annual Fees and other requirements Participates in Quality Assurance Meetings to identify training needs and remain abreast of care issues Implements recommendations from QA Committee regarding Facility's educational needs Provides reports and recommendations to the QA Committee on In-Service Training Programs and Employee Infection Prevention Program Serves on the Infection Control Committee and provides training interventions to address problems as identified
