Job Description

Summary Job Summary:
The RN works to achieve quality patient care. The RN shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation as evidenced by documentation in the Patient Care Record, direct observation, and patient evaluations of care. The RN is responsible for patient care and is ultimately accountable to the Medical Nursing Director. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. This position is for the Emergency Room.
Performance Expectations:
Properly uses and operates equipment assigned including but not limited to: telemetry monitors, woundvacs, IV infusion pumps, accucheck and defibrillator. Completes a thorough physical assessment of patients. Skilled in the use of central line care, IV insertion/care and blood transfusions. Consistently respects and maintains patient confidentiality. Ensure appropriate communication and interaction with patient/families and visitors. Must tolerate physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and/or the patient. Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Embraces and practices "We Care" philosophy in all aspects of patient, visitor, co-worker and non-employee care.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program required.
Work Experience:
One year medical/surgical nursing experience preferred but not required - (applies to new nursing graduates) Certification/Licensure-DUE
UPON HIRE
Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below Basic Life Support Within 30 Days of Employment Required Advanced Cardiac Life Support Within 90 Days of Employment Required NIH Stroke Scale Within 1 Year of Employment Required Trauma Nurse Core Course Within 1 year of Employment Required ( Emergency Department only ) Pediatric Advanced Life Support Within 1 year of employment Required ( Emergency Department only ) Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training Within 1 year of employment Required ( Emergency Department only )
