This is a unique opportunity for a motivated nurse to learn the full spectrum of patient care within a busy oculoplastic surgery practice while simultaneously developing the clinical skills and expertise necessary to become an exceptional Oculoplastic Nurse. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in doing things precisely and accurately, has excellent attention to detail, possesses a meticulous and thoughtful approach to patient care, and genuinely enjoys working with people. Prior aesthetic nursing experience is a plus, but it is not required. We are most interested in finding a conscientious nurse with the right temperament, work ethic, clinical aptitude, self-motivated drive and desire to learn. The Opportunity This position is designed as a comprehensive, long-term preceptorship and professional development pathway. The successful candidate will receive hands-on training in: Oculoplastic surgical patient care Preoperative and postoperative nursing Patient assessment and education Surgical assisting and operating room workflow Care of patients undergoing cosmetic and functional oculoplastic procedures Medical aesthetics and aesthetic patient consultations Injectable and non-invasive aesthetic treatments Treatment planning and patient safety Facial anatomy and aesthetic assessment Patient photography and documentation Sterile technique and infection prevention Product knowledge and appropriate treatment selection Post-treatment care and management The business and patient-service aspects of a high-end medical aesthetic practice The Fundamentals The candidate will be trained and expected to excel at the following fundamentals: Assist in surgical procedures, ensuring the operating room is prepared and sterile protocols are followed. Work up patients by obtaining medical history, performing preliminary tests, and preparing them for examinations. Serve as a scribe for the doctor during patient consultations, accurately documenting medical information and treatment plans. Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels. Provide administrative support such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient records. Collaborate effectively with the medical team to ensure seamless patient care delivery. Adhere to all relevant regulations and protocols to uphold patient safety and confidentiality. The ultimate goal of the training program is to develop the nurse's knowledge, technical skills, judgment, and experience toward pursuing Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS) credentials. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate will be: A Nurse Practitioner or a Registered Nurse (with aspirations to become an NP) with excellent clinical fundamentals Exceptionally detail-oriented and meticulous Conscientious, dependable, organized, punctual, thorough and accountable Highly skilled with their hands and comfortable developing precise technical skills Naturally attentive to subtle details and changes in patient condition or appearance Warm, compassionate, and able to provide an excellent bedside manner Professional, polished, and comfortable interacting with discerning patients Eager to learn and receptive to coaching and constructive feedback Interested in anatomy, facial aesthetics, plastic surgery, and patient care Able to maintain composure and attention to detail in a busy clinical environment A strong communicator and team player A self-starter who is comfortable working independently as well as part of a team Strong at multi-tasking and thrives in a highly dynamic work environment Highly flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and patient/business needs Committed to patient safety, confidentiality, and the highest standards of care Experience Prior experience in aesthetics, plastic surgery, dermatology, or oculoplastic nursing is a plus, but not required. We are willing to train the right nurse. More important than previous aesthetic experience is a genuine interest in the field, a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and the desire to become highly skilled in both surgical and aesthetic nursing. Schedule This preceptorship opportunity can be either a part-time or a full-time position depending on the candidate and business needs.
