Urology Nurse Coordinator Location:
Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | Clinic-Based | Non-Exempt Why You'll Love Working Here As a Urology Nurse Coordinator at UNC Health Appalachian, you'll provide comprehensive nursing care and clinical coordination for patients receiving specialty urologic care. In this highly collaborative role, you'll serve as a clinical resource for patients, families, providers, and the healthcare team while supporting complex treatment plans and ensuring a seamless patient experience. This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse who excels in clinical assessment, critical thinking, patient education, and care coordination. Compensation:
Starting at $30.00/Hour based on education and experience.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8am-5pm

What You'll Do as a Urology Nurse Coordinator Clinical Assessment & Patient Care Perform telephone and in-person clinical assessments and symptom triage. Assess patients before and after procedures and treatments. Identify changes in patient condition or potential complications and initiate appropriate nursing interventions within scope of practice. Escalate patient concerns and clinical findings to providers when indicated. Care Coordination & Treatment Support Coordinate and provide nursing care for patients undergoing complex urologic treatments and procedures, including: Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Intravesical BCG therapy Biopsies Cystoscopy-related care Other invasive procedures Coordinate care across multiple services to promote safe, timely, and effective treatment. Collaborate with laboratory, diagnostic, infusion, and treatment personnel to support patient care needs. Patient Education & Communication Provide education and support to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, procedures, and follow-up care. Serve as a clinical resource for patients, families, providers, and healthcare team members. Reinforce treatment plans and encourage patient engagement in care. Professional Practice & Collaboration Work collaboratively with urologists, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and interdisciplinary team members. Practice in accordance with the North Carolina Nurse Practice Act, organizational policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements. Maintain high standards of patient safety, confidentiality, and quality care. What We're Looking For Minimum Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Experience Current clinical nursing experience required. Previous experience in an outpatient specialty, urology, oncology, infusion, procedural, or acute-care setting preferred. Previous experience with telephone triage and clinical assessment preferred. Previous experience with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, BCG, intravesical therapy, infusion therapy, or specialty medication administration preferred. Experience assisting with invasive procedures and/or biopsies preferred. Previous experience coordinating complex patient care preferred. Two years of professional nursing experience preferred. Required Licensure & Certifications Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required at hire. Additional certifications required by organizational policy and/or specific clinical responsibilities must be maintained. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Ability to prioritize and coordinate complex patient care needs. Excellent communication and patient education skills. Knowledge of specialty clinic operations and care coordination principles. Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Commitment to patient safety, quality outcomes, and compassionate care. Physical & Work Environment Physical Demands Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods. Lifting and carrying medical supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds occasionally. Frequent bending, reaching, and manual dexterity for patient care activities and equipment use. Clear verbal communication with patients, families, providers, and team members. Working Conditions Indoor clinical environment with exposure to medical equipment and instruments. Regular interaction with patients, providers, and support staff. Adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory protocols. May require flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evenings or weekends.
