Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-PACU Job Type Travel Take your pediatric nursing experience to the next level with a contract opportunity in a progressive post-anesthesia care unit serving young patients from infancy through adolescence. This specialized team manages a high volume of post-surgical pediatric cases—offering exposure across a wide variety of specialties, all within a supportive, academically driven hospital environment.
Schedule/Hours:
Contract position; specific scheduling details will be provided during the interview process.
Qualifications:
Active RN license with at least 1 year of critical care pediatric experience (2 years preferred). Previous travel assignment experience required; no first-time travelers. Current certifications in BLS and PALS. Confidence in managing ICU-level drips (heparin, insulin, cardiac agents). Comfortable providing care in an open bay unit and flexible enough to occasionally support adult patients as needed. Proficient with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Philips monitors, and Omnicell medication dispensing. Team-oriented approach and willingness to ask questions and collaborate.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver patient-centered care to pediatric patients (ages 0-17), both inpatient and outpatient, recovering from a diverse range of surgical procedures (excluding cardiac). Monitor telemetry and respond promptly to changes in patient status. Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team including transporters, receptionists, PACU educators, dedicated charge RN, anesthesia providers, and unit managers. Maintain high standards of safety and infection control, especially in a high-volume environment. Occasionally provide care for adults as patient need arises.
