Job Description
Shift:
7:00 PM - 7:30AM Experience:
- 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
- 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience.
- Experience with Epic is preferred.
Requirements:
- Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission).
- This role will require floating to multiple units
- Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >75 miles from facility to be submitted.
- COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

Required Skills/Experience:
Trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, Foley care, central line management/dressing changes/blood draws, caring for patients on dialysis and BiPAP, and heparin drips.Preferred Skills/Experience:
Experience with occasional post-pacemaker placement and post-cath patients with no interventions preferred.Special Requests:
RTO requests: up to 5 days may be approved. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed.Unit Details:
Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, diabetes, infections, electrolyte imbalances, altered mental status, sepsis workup, and post-general surgery. Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors. CNA support ratio is 1:9. LPNs are utilized in standard nurse capacity, and the charge nurse carries a full patient assignment. No IV/VAT team. Phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and telemetry monitoring/tech are available 24/7; secretary coverage is during the day.Shift & Scheduling:
Every other weekend. No call. Holiday rotation required. Cannot clock in until 7 minutes before shift starts; must clock in on time and clock out no earlier than 7:23. Schedules are made in 6-week increments and provided 2 weeks prior to beginning.Floating Requirements:
Will float to other Med/Surg areas within the facility if needed. Could float to ICU for Med/Surg patients only; will never have ICU/PCU patient assignments. 5 days maximum time off 2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months Proof of identification requiredCertifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
