A Cardiology Registered Nurse provides care for patients with heart problems. Performs cardiac tests and assessments, educates patients and families about cardiac disease and preventative health care, and cares for patients after heart surgery. Works with specialized monitoring and treatment equipment. Trained to provide emergency medical care to cardiac patients. Works under the supervision of a physician. Works in hospital cardiology or intensive care units or cardiac rehabilitation programs.

Our Cardiopulmonary Rehab Department is dedicated to helping patients recover and improve their heart and lung health through structured exercise, education, and personalized care plans. Located in the Medical Mall in Smithfield, we provide a supportive environment where patients can safely work toward better health following a cardiac event or pulmonary diagnosis.
Summary:
Develops and implements an individualized care plan for patients in cardiac rehabilitation.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others. 2. Documents patient's status, according to unit specific procedure. 3. Develops an individualized plan of care utilizing the nursing and medical diagnosis. Collaborates with other health care team members in formulating plan. 4. Implements the nursing plan of care on assigned patients. 5. Evaluates patient's status, nursing instructions, appropriateness of the nursing plan of care, and outcomes of the care provided. 6. Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital procedure, including patient and family instruction as well as discharge planning.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (BSN) from an accredited school of Nursing preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Must have NC RN Licensure.

BCLS Professional Experience Requirements:
Minimum one year experience in cardiac rehab nursing.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical information and technical procedures. Ability to document clinical information. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from patients, physicians, family members, and other Rex staff.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
