Job Description

Experience:
24 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months. 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years). Experience with Cerner is preferred.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a North Dakota license or compact license (required for submission). This role will require floating to multiple units Local & travel allowed. No current placement allowed at

Unit Details:
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3-6 for Med-Surg; 1:10-13 for swing bed.
  • Common patient population/diagnoses include diabetes, MI, CHF, A-fib, cellulitis, GI bleeds, UTI, pneumonia, COVID, chest pain, gastroenteritis, falls, weakness, electrolyte imbalances, and COPD. Large elderly population with chronic conditions.
  • RNs titrate insulin, heparin, and most medications until patients are transferred out, if warranted.
  • No tele techs on the unit; RNs read and interpret their own strips using Phillips monitors.
  • Charge RN typically carries a light patient assignment.
  • No RT on the unit; staff perform ABGs, breathing treatments, and 12 Lead EKGs.
  • Access/de-access ports, PICC care, wound care/wound vac, and mixing/preparing medications.
Shift & Scheduling:
  • Modified self-scheduling. Final schedules are balanced to unit needs, and travelers must be flexible to help fill permanent scheduling gaps.
  • Every other to every 3rd weekend.
  • May be asked to participate in holiday rotation.
  • No call or standby.
Floating Requirements:
  • All positions work in acute Med/Surg, swing bed, and ER, with floating between Med/Surg/swing bed and ER.
14 days maximum time off 2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months Proof of identification required
