Summary Description:
Under the direct supervision of a School Nurse the Health Associate assists the School Nurse in the smooth and efficient operation of the school health service by assuming duties not requiring the full professional skills and judgment of the School Nurse. Essential Functions include: Help maintain the Health Office under the direction of the School Nurse. Assist with minor first aid under supervision. Assist with the screening and examination programs established. Cover the Health Room (with a nurse

) when necessary. Assist the School Nurse, as necessary, with accidents and medical emergencies. Maintain records and perform clerical work. Locate and schedule students for conferences and examinations. Assist in organizing and setting up first aid kits for sports. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities that the School Nurse may assign. • The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good interpersonal skills with ability to work harmoniously with both children and adults. Good basic clerical skills including computer literacy. Working knowledge of standard office organization, methods, and procedures. Compassion, discretion, confidentiality, organization, patience, and professionalism are a requirement of this position.
Qualification Profile:
High School Diploma Completion of a basic first aid course and CPR certification. Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Schedule:
Part-time, 5.5 hours per day, 5 days/week, 10 month position.
