This part-time, contract position runs from ASAP through the end of the school year and is based in a welcoming community near Elizabeth, NJ. Youll be assigned to one elementary school, primarily assisting a recently diagnosed, Type 1 diabetic kindergarten student during their daily bus commute. The schools daytime nursing needs are already met, so your expertise is pivotal in ensuring a safe and smooth transition to and from school for this child.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

Active RN license in the state Previous experience in pediatric nursing or school health preferred Compassion and attentiveness specializing in individualized student care Comfortable with diabetes care, especially for young children Strong communication with students, families, and school staff

Role Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage blood glucose monitoring and necessary interventions during bus transport Ensure prescribed protocols for a Type 1 diabetic student are followed consistently Collaborate with school nurses, bus staff, and administrators to support the childs well-being Communicate regularly with the students family to provide updates and insights Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
