Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse in Emergency Department (RN ED) to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to determine urgency and prioritize care. Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform suturing as needed, adhering to aseptic techniques and hospital protocols. Manage airway patency using ventilators or other advanced equipment; provide critical care interventions for trauma or acute illness. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care, procedures, and medical records. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for diagnostic evaluations, laboratory testing, imaging procedures such as CT scans, and specialist consultations. Execute triage procedures efficiently to identify patients with level I or II trauma or urgent needs; provide initial stabilization and facilitate timely transfers. Support complex cases involving infectious disease management, pain control strategies, hospice & palliative care needs, or behavioral health considerations. Assist with discharge planning, patient education on medication administration including botulinum toxin treatments or other therapies, and follow-up instructions. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of all patient information. Participate in ongoing training related to ICD coding (ICD-9/10), NCQA standards, trauma medicine protocols, and other relevant certifications. Qualifications Valid RN licensure with current state registration; prior experience in emergency medicine or Level I/II trauma centers highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with Athenahealth is advantageous. Critical care experience including ICU or PICU settings; familiarity with ventilator management and advanced airway techniques. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation methods. Skilled in performing venipuncture, catheterization (including urinary catheters), tube feeding management, and sterile processing. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs. Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient handling. Ability to manage acute pain cases effectively; experience in trauma medicine or urgent care settings is desirable. Excellent communication skills for collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and providing compassionate patient education. Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) are required.
