As a Registered Nurse within the Intermediate Care Unit (Medical Unit V) at RWJ University Hospital Brunswick, you will help advance patient care and strengthen the experience of individuals and families across our organization. The IMCU is a 31-bed unit designed to care for patients whose clinical needs exceeds what a general medical surgical unit can safely provide but do not require the full resources of an intensive care unit. Our IMCU cares for adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions requiring closer monitoring including but not limited to: continuous pulse oximetry monitoring, telemetry monitoring, frequent neurological assessments and frequent vital signs. The patient population may include patients with multiple medical diagnoses and/or multi-system medical conditions, pre

•and post-surgical/procedural needs, or those transitioning from an ICU level of care. As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include: Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients

Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment

Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions

Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care

Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety

Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care

Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

A collaborative team culture is something you actively help strengthen To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification with at least 1 year of acute care RN experience required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years upon hire. ACLS certification is preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Prior 2-3 years of RN experience within acute care is highly preferred and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a Per Diem Day Shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m with weekend and holiday rotations, 2 shifts per month, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
