Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a vital role supporting a young student's health and wellbeing as a school-based registered nurse in a collaborative educational setting near Plainfield, NJ. This contract opportunity extends from January 2026 through June 2027, offering approximately 35 hours per week during school hours (8am-3pm). You will make a meaningful impact working one-on-one with a 3-year-old learner diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD).
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Active RN license with eligibility to practice in NJ Demonstrated pediatric nursing experience required School nursing experience preferred, especially within special education Familiarity with NG-tube care (not G-tube), medication administration, and emergency response Comfortable providing care for non-ambulatory, non-verbal children and assisting with transfers/lifting (student is ~24 lbs) Ability to operate positioning devices (stander, gait-trainer) Willingness to travel with the student on the school bus to ensure safety and comfort
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver attentive nursing care throughout the school day, including NG-tube management, health monitoring, and immediate medical intervention if necessary Safely transport the student to and from bus, classroom, and therapy sessions, utilizing mobility supports Document healthcare interventions, updates, and collaborate with educators, therapists, and family members Advocate for the student's health needs and comfort in all settings Uphold health and safety protocols within a school environment
