•$2006/Weekly Position Overview Aztec Municipal School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse (RN) for a contract assignment through the end of the school year. The School Nurse will support the health, safety, and well-being of students while working collaboratively with students, families, school staff, administrators, and community partners. The position will provide student health services, health education, screenings, medication management, emergency care, health documentation, and coordination with local and state health agencies. Key Responsibilities Provide nursing care and health services to students. Maintain accurate student health, immunization, medication, and daily health records. Conduct routine student health screenings as required by New Mexico PED guidelines. Identify health concerns and make appropriate referrals. Follow up on student health problems and conduct home visits when necessary. Administer and/or delegate medications in accordance with applicable regulations. Participate in the development of IEP, IHP, and 504 plans. Provide health education and staff training on health-related topics. Monitor AEDs and maintain emergency preparedness. Coordinate emergency transportation for students and staff when needed. Implement communicable disease control procedures. Ensure appropriate health office coverage during lunch and recess. Supervise and delegate duties to Health Assistants and Educational Assistants as permitted by New Mexico Board of Nursing regulations. Coordinate school health functions with city, county, and state agencies. Maintain professional licensure and continuing education requirements. Participate in student registration and ensure required health documentation is obtained. Complete required Medicaid billing and immunization reporting. Maintain health office resources and supplies. Perform other health-related duties as assigned by the administrator. Required Qualifications Current New Mexico Registered Nurse (RN) License . Current New Mexico School Nurse License/Certificate issued by the New Mexico Public Education Department. Current CPR certification and first-aid training. Interest and ability to work with students. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Computer proficiency and knowledge of office procedures. Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community members. Successful completion of a fingerprint/background check . Preferred Qualifications Previous School Nurse experience. Experience with computer-based health records systems. Knowledge of New Mexico PED School Health requirements. Familiarity with student health programs and educational support plans. Physical Requirements This position requires a Medium physical capacity and may involve: Frequent standing and walking. Sitting, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds . Repetitive hand movements and fine manipulation. Use of standard office, medical, and technology equipment. Work Environment The School Nurse will work in a school environment and regularly interact with students, staff, families, and members of the public. The role may involve exposure to routine school health situations and communicable diseases.
