Job Description

Posting Details This posting will be used for ongoing recruitment and may close at any time. Applicant lists may be screened more than once. Why does the job exist? The primary purpose of this position is to provide restorative nursing services to assigned residents in accordance with care plans and facility policies and procedures. How does it get done? Assesses residents and makes determinations related to the level of restorative nursing services the residents need. Develops and documents a plan of care that includes measurable objectives and interventions for residents who require restorative nursing services. Performs restorative nursing services in accordance with care plans and facility policies and procedures. These services may include activities related to range of motion, splint/brace assistance, bed mobility, transfers/walking, dressing/grooming, eating/swallowing, amputation/prosthesis care, and communication. Who are the customers? Residents at a long-terms care facility. Ideal Candidate Residents at a long-terms care facility. Minimum Qualification Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and five (5) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Employment Requirements This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Will be screened for tuberculosis (TB) upon hire. Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check (Sections 29-17-2 through 29-17-5 NMSA 1978 and 7.1.9.1 through 7.1.9.11 NMAC) and is conditional pending results. Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico. Working Conditions Works throughout the nursing service area (i.e., nurse's stations, resident rooms, etc.). Moves intermittently during working hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors. Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors. Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.). Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
