Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Infection Control Nurse to lead and coordinate infection prevention efforts within our healthcare facility. This vital role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring infection control policies to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. The Infection Control Nurse will serve as a key resource for infection prevention strategies, compliance with health regulations, and outbreak management. Duties Develop, review, and update infection control policies in accordance with CDC guidelines, OSHA standards, and state regulations. Conduct comprehensive patient observations and monitor infection trends across various departments, including acute care, long-term care, assisted living, and hospital settings. Lead infection prevention initiatives by educating staff on aseptic techniques, microbiology principles, disease prevention policies, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Oversee data collection and management related to infection rates, outbreaks, and compliance metrics using healthcare data systems. Review medical records and documentation to ensure accurate reporting of infection incidents and adherence to documentation review protocols. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans focusing on infectious disease care and epidemiology best practices. Manage outbreak investigations by analyzing epidemiological data, implementing containment measures, and reporting findings per CDC guidelines. Ensure compliance with long-term care regulations, HIPAA privacy standards, OSHA safety protocols, and other relevant health regulation policies. Provide leadership in infection control training sessions for staff across all levels of healthcare delivery. Requirements Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with current state certification. Critical care experience in hospital or acute care settings is highly preferred; experience in assisted living or long-term care environments is a plus. Demonstrated expertise in healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with CDC guidelines. Strong knowledge of microbiology, anatomy, physiology, infectious diseases (public health), and disease prevention policies. Experience managing medical-surgical patient populations with a focus on infection control measures. Familiarity with MDS (Minimum Data Set) processes for long-term care residents and data management systems for healthcare records. Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA privacy rules, OSHA standards, long-term care regulations, and infectious disease regulations. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Excellent communication skills for training staff and collaborating across departments on infection prevention strategies. Ability to review medical documentation accurately, analyze epidemiological data, and implement evidence-based interventions.
