RN Staff Educator -

Jamaica, NY Job Description:

Seeking an experienced and motivated RN Staff Educator to join the Nursing Department of a skilled nursing and long-term care facility. The RN Staff Educator will provide and coordinate facility-wide orientation, in-service education, and training programs for facility personnel. The RN Staff Educator will also work closely with all departments to monitor, control, and prevent infections throughout the facility.

Experience:

Experience as a RN Educator in a skilled nursing facility is a MUST! Major Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Formulate, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures for facility-wide in-service programs. Prepare the annual calendar and master schedule of mandatory and other pertinent in-service programs. Submit copies of the annual in-service schedule to the Administrator, Assistant Administrator, Director of Nursing, and Personnel Director. Schedule, conduct, and arrange mandatory and other in-service programs for all staff. Prepare monthly in-service calendars and distribute them to all departments. Keep abreast of and recommend appropriate training resources to departments participating in training programs. Work in conjunction with the Personnel Director and Department Heads to conduct and/or arrange facility orientation for all new employees. Conduct orientation programs for Nursing Department personnel. Monitor infection control practices and assist with infection prevention throughout the facility. Ensure staff education and training are consistent with applicable regulatory requirements, CDC guidelines, OSHA requirements, and facility policies.

Job Requirements:

Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a long-term care facility , including nursing administration experience. Previous experience providing in-service education required. At least 1 year of experience as an RN Staff Educator in a nursing home is required. Knowledge of CDC guidelines related to infection control. Knowledge of OSHA requirements. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to work collaboratively with all departments. Must be available to work in person .
