Overview We are seeking a passionate and energetic PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services) Mental Health Nurse to join our Jamestown Psych team. In this vital role, you will deliver high-quality mental health nursing care within a dynamic environment, focusing on empowering individuals on their recovery journey. Your expertise will help foster a supportive atmosphere that promotes healing, resilience, and well-being for diverse patient populations. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive mental health nursing assessments, including vital signs, patient history, and behavioral observations. Administer medications and treatments with precision, including injections, IV infusions, and medication management aligned with HIPAA standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans that incorporate trauma medicine, dementia care, and behavioral health strategies. Monitor patients' progress through ongoing evaluation of mental status, physical health, and response to interventions. Support patients with developmental disabilities, memory care needs, and those requiring acute pain management or hospice & palliative care. Maintain accurate medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth; ensure compliance with
ICD-10/ICD-9
coding standards. Educate patients and families on health coaching, discharge planning, medication administration, and safety protocols including aseptic technique and infection control. Experience Proven experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings with familiarity in trauma medicine, geriatrics, or substance use treatment. Critical care experience preferred, including ICU or emergency room exposure at Level I or Level II trauma centers. Skilled in medical-surgical nursing practices with knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen collection/processing, and diagnostic evaluation. Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks; adept at medical documentation and ICD coding. Background working with diverse populations including children (pediatrics), older adults (geriatrics), and individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges. Knowledge of acute care protocols including airway management, ventilator use, catheterization (urinary & vascular), tube feeding, and ostomy care. Strong understanding of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases; experience in home & community care settings is a plus.
