Job Summary:
A driven individual will Perform nursing functions in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws and within the guidelines of his/her professional organization, agency and Kinney Homecare. All functions shall be performed in accordance with the established policies and practices and state Nurse Practice Act. He/She will work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team for the best patient/customer outcomes, education, instruction and compliance of patients. The RN delivers care to patients/customers as delegated by the Respiratory Care Manager.Job Duties:
Provides professional nursing care in the DME setting as defined in the nurse practice act Provides exceptional patient communication, education and support. Represents Kinney Homecare through professional appearance and attitude Responsible for s set up and instruction of respiratory equipment such as but not limited to Cpap, Bipap, RADs, Oxygen, Cough Assist, High volume compressors, ventilators and oximeters Nurse/Clinician will play an active role in compliance to meet insurance guidelines while promoting a healthy sleep lifestyle. Provides follow up phone calls within the required 72 Hr timeframe for respiratory equipment The nurse will be a resource to patients when the need arises for troubleshooting equipment. Responsible for patient mask fittings/Interface and utilizing the "Mask Warranty Program" Responsible for becoming familiar with on-line/Web based programs for downloads, utilizing VirtuOx and processing orders Responsible for home set up of equipment if required Responsible for participating in an on-call responsibility if required Requires use of personal vehicle and a valid drivers license Communicates information with staff, referral sources, physician offices, patients and peers on a timely basis, consistent with Agency policy and urgency of the situation and through complete and accurate documentation in Brightree. Ensures accuracy, completeness and timeliness of clinical documentation in accordance with policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of safety/infection control practices by compliance with policies and procedures. Recognizes and responds appropriately to potentially unsafe situations. Demonstrates safe practice and Infection Control in the use of equipment. Seeks education/training or assistance with areas of concern. Stays current on LCDs, Medicare billing and dispensing guidelines Responsible for completing all mandatory and regulatory training programsIE:
Bridge/DME training in a timely manner or as assigned Accepts responsibility for professional nursing role. Follows and stays current with applicable state and federal laws and company Policy and Procedures and renewal of his/her license. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job and patient/customer PHI Refrains from discussing client or staff identities, conditions, or circumstances in public or with others who do not have a legitimate interest in the person. Attends scheduled clinical meetings as required Assists in the orientation/training new staff May serve as a back up to other employee's vacations, illness or other periods of time. Perform other duties as assignedEducational Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school ofNursing Credential/Licensure Required:
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state(s) of employment Valid driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance coverage per Kinney Homecare policy.Experience Preferred:
Minimum of one year of experience in a DME (Durable Medical Equipment) field or setting with equivalent experience.Physical Requirements:
Primarily medium in nature with exerting up to 35 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, bend or otherwise move objects, involves sitting, walking, standing, driving, talking, hearing, reaching. Ability to work at a desk for up to eight hours per day. Involves prolonged phone use.Special Conditions of Employment:
