Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) team for night shifts, working a 36-hour weekly schedule. This critical care nursing role offers an opportunity to provide specialized, compassionate patient care in a dynamic hospital environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, including proficiency with advanced medical procedures and electronic health record systems, to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients within the CVICU, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing ventilators. Perform complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization, suturing, and catheter care while adhering to aseptic techniques. Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic and Cerner for accurate documentation of patient assessments, medical records, and treatment plans. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations and vital sign monitoring, to inform clinical decisions. Manage acute pain and assist with procedures such as IV infusion, venipuncture, and medication administration. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols to ensure patient privacy and safety. Support patients with complex needs such as trauma medicine, infectious disease care, or post-operative recovery in a high-acuity setting. Experience Proven critical care experience in ICU settings, preferably within a Level I or Level II trauma center environment. Demonstrated proficiency with advanced cardiac procedures including cardiac catheterization and telemetry monitoring. Experience working with electronic health records systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/10) is advantageous. Background in managing diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal resuscitation procedures, or behavioral health. Knowledge of infection control standards aligned with NCQA standards; experience in hospital medicine or emergency medicine is preferred. Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to acute care nursing practices. Ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced environments such as emergency rooms or trauma units while maintaining high-quality patient care.
