Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in infusion therapy to join our healthcare team for a day-shift assignment in Utica, NY. Duties Administer intravenous (IV) infusions, including medications such as botulinum toxin treatments and other specialty therapies, following aseptic techniques and safety standards. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and evaluate responses to treatment plans. Manage complex infusion procedures, including catheter care, IV insertion, and maintenance of ventilators when necessary. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with diverse needs such as geriatrics, pediatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Document all nursing interventions accurately within electronic health records (EHR/Epic/Cerner systems), ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment procedures, medication administration, and post-care instructions. Assist in triage assessments for urgent or emergent cases within outpatient or inpatient settings. Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization techniques and specimen collection/processing. Support discharge planning by coordinating follow-up care and ensuring continuity of services. Respond effectively to acute pain management needs and critical care situations within hospital environments. Experience Proven experience working as an RN in infusion therapy, critical care units (ICU/CCU), emergency medicine, or hospital medicine settings. Familiarity with advanced EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for medical documentation. Demonstrated competence in performing IV insertions, medication administration, catheterization, and aseptic techniques. Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health patients, or individuals with disabilities. Knowledge of infection control protocols, HIPAA compliance, and laboratory specimen handling. Prior exposure to specialty areas such as ophthalmology (including botulinum toxin treatments), trauma medicine (Level I/II trauma centers), infectious disease care, or hospice & palliative medicine is advantageous. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology knowledge relevant to infusion therapy and acute care scenarios. Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced environments requiring critical response skills such as airway management or ventilator support. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications like ACLS or PALS are preferred.
