As an ER Travel Nurse, you will deliver vital support to hospital teams, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert assessment, intervention, and compassionate care. Key responsibilities include performing comprehensive patient assessments, managing acute pain and trauma cases, administering medications and IV infusions, utilizing advanced medical equipment such as ventilators and cardiac monitors, and adhering strictly to infection control protocols. You will also be responsible for documenting medical records accurately within EMR/EHR systems, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining high standards of aseptic technique. Your expertise in handling diverse patient populations—from pediatrics to geriatrics—and working within Level I or Level II trauma centers will be essential to success in this role. Responsibilities Provide urgent and emergent nursing care to patients in fast-paced ER environments, including triage and initial assessment. Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following prescribed protocols while monitoring for adverse reactions. Perform advanced procedures such as suturing, catheterization (urinary and vascular), tube feeding management, and ostomy care. Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner to document patient information accurately and efficiently. Support critical care interventions including airway management, ventilator operation, and cardiac monitoring. Conduct diagnostic evaluations through laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpretation of vital signs. Collaborate with physicians and specialists in trauma medicine, infectious disease care, behavioral health, and hospice & palliative medicine. Assist with discharge planning, patient education on post-acute care needs, and coordination with case management teams. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards to ensure patient confidentiality and safety. Demonstrate proficiency in handling complex cases involving trauma patients or individuals with developmental disabilities. Skills Extensive experience working in emergency room settings within Level I or Level II trauma centers. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with

ICD-9/ICD-10

coding. Critical care experience including ICU or PICU settings; familiarity with ventilator management. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to emergency medicine. Skilled in performing invasive procedures such as suturing, venipuncture (phlebotomy), catheterization, and sterile dressing changes. Ability to assess complex patient conditions rapidly and implement appropriate interventions. Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with disabilities. Knowledge of infection control practices aligned with NCQA standards; adept at maintaining aseptic technique. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams. Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in high-pressure environments while maintaining attention to detail.
