Job Description
OhioHealth, a not-for-profit healthcare leader, is seeking a dedicated Staff RN Inpatient to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care, coordinate with an interdisciplinary team, and advocate for patient safety and comfort across inpatient units. You'll assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while mentoring support staff and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult inpatients, including comprehensive assessments, care planning, interventions, and ongoing evaluation. Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and ordered treatments accurately, following all safety and infection control protocols. Continuously monitor and document patient condition, vital signs, and responses to treatment, promptly reporting and escalating significant changes. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation in the electronic health record to support communication and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case management, and support staff during interdisciplinary rounds and daily care coordination. Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, discharge instructions, and self-care strategies, ensuring understanding and engagement. Promote a safe environment through adherence to infection prevention practices, fall prevention protocols, and safe patient handling techniques. Support discharge planning by communicating patient needs, barriers, and progress with case managers and the broader care team. Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice initiatives, and ongoing professional development opportunities offered by Ohio Health. Required Skills Patient assessment Care planning and implementation Administering medications (IV, oral, IM, etc.) Clinical documentation in EHR/EMR systems Telemetry and vital sign monitoring Wound care and dressing changes IV insertion and management Catheter and drain management Interdisciplinary care coordination Patient and family education Infection prevention and control Basic life support (BLS) Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or willingness to obtain Clinical triage and prioritization Safe patient handling and mobility techniques Discharge planning support Use of medical equipment (pumps, monitors, etc.) Critical thinking and clinical decision making Time management in acute care setting De-escalation and crisis intervention
