Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Stepdown care to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the PCU/Stepdown unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans. Monitor vital signs, interpret physiology data, and respond promptly to acute changes in patient conditions. Administer medications via IV infusion, injections, and other routes, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Perform complex procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding management, and ventilator support. Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation, medication administration records, and patient data management. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies. Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpretation of diagnostic imaging results. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards while safeguarding patient confidentiality. Assist in triage assessments for incoming patients and provide emergency response as needed within a Level I or Level II trauma center setting. Support patients across various specialties such as geriatrics, behavioral health, pediatrics, neonatal resuscitation procedures, hospice & palliative medicine, infectious disease care, and senior care. Experience Minimum of two years of recent RN experience in acute care settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, or trauma centers. Proven expertise working with critically ill patients requiring advanced interventions like cardiac catheterization or ventilator management. Experience with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is preferred. Strong background in medical-surgical nursing with additional skills in pain management, infection control, aseptic technique, and laboratory procedures. Knowledge of complex medical terminology related to cardiology, neurology (PICU), nephrology (dialysis), and other specialty areas such as obstetrics or pediatrics. Demonstrated ability to perform IV insertion, phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, and medication administration accurately. Prior travel nursing experience is advantageous but not mandatory; candidates must exhibit adaptability to diverse clinical environments. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is highly desirable.
